Bu makale, Almanya odaklı olarak, Avrupa’da Yükseköğretimde İslam İlahiyatı konusunda yaşanan gelişmeleri konu edinmektedir. Amaç, son yıllarda Avrupa üniversitelerinde İslam İlahiyatı ile ilgili yaşanmakta olan gelişmeleri tespit ederek imkânlar ve sorunlar bağlamında değerlendirmektir. Yahudi-Hıristiyan-Batı değerlerine sahip olan Avrupa devletleri ve milletleri, birlikte yaşamak durumunda oldukları ve sayıları giderek artan Müslümanların kendileriyle uyum içinde yaşayabilmelerinin yollarını aramaktadır. Konu Avrupa’da İslam’ın ve Müslümanların geleceği açısından önem arz etmektedir. Bu arayışların bir boyutu da Avrupa üniversitelerinde İslam ilahiyatı programı oluşturma çalışmalarıdır. Acaba Avrupa değerleriyle uyumlu yaşayacak bir İslam yorumu üretmek mümkün müdür? sorusu, başta Almanya olmak üzere Avrupa genelinde üzerinde durulan önemli bir meseledir. İki binli yıllarda başlayan ve son on yıldır hız kazanan İslam ilahiyatı akademik arayışı ve çalışmaları bu soruya cevap üretmek amacındadır. Batı Avrupa değerleri ile barışık yaşayabilecek bir İslam anlayışını üretmek ve bu İslam anlayışıyla İslam din eğitimi ve din hizmetleri verecek insanları yetiştirmek Avrupa’daki İslam İlahiyatı girişimlerinin temel amacını oluşturmaktadır. Konu, ilgili literatüre dayalı olarak metin analizi ve uzun yıllara dayalı tecrübeler ışığında otobiyografik yöntemlerle ele alınmaktadır.
This article focuses on the developments of Islamic Theology in Higher Education in Europe. The objective is to evaluate the possibilities and problems in the context by identifying the developments that are happening in the European universities in the past few years in relation to Islamic Theology. European states and peoples with Jewish-Christian-West values are looking for ways for more and more Muslims to live in harmony with themselves. This is a matter of importance for the future of Islam and Muslims in Europe. One dimension of these aspirations is the work of creating the Islamic Theology program at European universities. Is it possible to create an Islamic interpretation that is consistent with European values? This is an important issue that focuses on all over Europe, primarily Germany. The academic search and work of Islamic theology, which began in two thousand years and has gained speed in the last decade, aims to produce answers to this question. Producing an Islamic understanding that can live in peace with Western European values and educating people to provide Islamic religious education and religious services with this Islamic understanding is the main objective of the Islamic Theology initiatives in Europe. The subject is addressed by autobiographical methods in the light of text analysis and years of experience based on the relevant literature.
The present article deals with the developments in Islamic theology in higher education in Europe with a focus on those in Germany. The main objectives of the study are to identify the developments regarding Islamic theology at European universities in recent years and to evaluate these developments in the context of the opportunities and problems. Since European states and nations, possessing Judeo-Christian-Western values, are in search of ways to enable Muslims to live in harmony with themselves due to the growing Muslim share of the population throughout Europe. This issue has great importance for the future of Islam and Muslims in Europe. One aspect of these pursuits concerns the establishment academic programmes on/over Islamic theology at European universities. The question of “Is it possible to develop an interpretation of Islam that will live in harmony with European values?” is an important issue that is being focused on across Europe, especially in Germany. The academic studies of Islamic theology, addressing this question, started in the 2000s and has gained momentum over the past decade. Creating an understanding of Islam to live in peace with Western European values and educating people who will provide Islamic religious education and religious services within this scope are the main goals of the initiatives for introducing the Islamic theology programmes at European universities. The subject is addressed by the autobiographical methods in the light of many years of experience and the literature survey.
