Abstract:

Purpose: It is intended to determine seropositivity of hepatitis A virus (HAV) in the 0-18-year-old group and around it.Reference and method: between January 2007 and December 2008 Van Women Birth and Child Diseases Hospital was assessed as 3409 disease prospects between 0-18 years of age applicable to child clinics and for any reason (hepatitis and non-hepatitis approaches) anti-HAV IgM and IgG considered. Patients, 0-2, 3-5, 6-10, 11-15 years old and over 15 years old were divided into 5 groups. The seropositivity and frequency of HAV in each group were determined.The findings: Anti-HAV IgG seropositivity was 69.9% (2384/3409) and Anti-HAV IgM seropositivity was 15.3% (524/3409). Our study showed that HAV seropositivity increased with age, HAV IgM positivity reached high values especially between 3-10 years of age.The result: HAV seropositivity in our region was high. Improving the conditions of hygiene, informing people about this, improving the education and socio-economic quality of the people of the region and trying to prevent the disease, vaccinating children.
