Abstract:

With technological and industrial developments, with the increased population intensity, natural and human-source disasters have become more and more dangerous and harmful for people. This situation drives people to be more sensitive to catastrophes while creating catastrophes management systems to prevent and reduce the impact of possible catastrophes. The risk of earthquakes from the sudden natural disasters due to the geography of our country is among the highest countries. In this study, considering the four major earthquakes that have occurred recently as a sample, the assessment of the performance of the disaster management system against earthquakes in Turkey has been made by the method of data coverage analysis (VZA), which is one of the Multi-Critical Decision Methods. As a result of the study, it has been detailed whether the catastrophic management system created against earthquakes that may occur in Turkey is sufficient, what are the missing aspects of the system and what measures should be developed.
