Abstract:

Nowadays, with the changes in the modern society structure and the developments in technology, electricity has become an indispensable concept. The widespread use of electricity in almost every sector, with the constant increase in demand for energy every day, causes the existing power systems to remain insufficient in meeting the energy demand. New production and technology units added to power systems to overcome this situation make existing systems more complex. Furthermore, the unstable increase in energy demand causes the system to work at the maximum stability limit. These situations increase the likelihood of the power system to face some difficulties. The biggest challenge for power systems is the electricity cuts that have occurred very frequently in the world in recent years. It is extremely important that the interruptions that have caused a serious social and economic impact on human life are well analyzed with their causes and consequences, and that the necessary arrangements may ensure that the interruptions and consequences that can be experienced by making a minimum of time are minimized. In this study we have provided information about the causes of electricity interruptions occurring in both the world and in Turkey, the fields of impact and the measures that can be taken. Examples were also analyzed through the power system.
