Abstract:

Purpose: The aim of this study is to evaluate the impact of the application of universal adhesives on the binding resistance to the dentine. Tool and Method: Seventy pieces of humans that do not contain dirt were used by the third minor female. The teeth were randomly divided into seven groups (n = 10). Universal adhesives were used in two layers, according to the instructions of Single Bond Universal (3M Oral Care), Gluma Bond Universal (Heraeus Kulzer) and Prime&Bond Universal (Dentsply). As a control group, two-stage self-acid adhesive Clearfil SE Bond (Kuraray Noritake) was used. After the composite top structures were connected to the surface of the mid-coronal oclusal dentin, the samples were stored in distilled water (37 °C/24 hours) and divided into micro samples. Examples were submitted to the micro-release connection resistance test (1,0 mm / minute). The analysis of the failure types was done using a light microscope and a scanned electron microscope. The data was analyzed by the one-way ANOVA and Duncan tests (p=0,05). Results: Application in two layers increased the binding resistance of three universal adjectives to the dentine (p<0,05). Clearfil SE Bond showed higher connectivity values compared to universal adhesives when universal adhesives were applied in a single layer (p<0,05). When applied in a single layer, Prime&Bond Universal obtained higher connectivity values than Single Bond Universal and Gluma Bond Universal (p<0,05). Result: The application of two layers has been beneficial in increasing the binding resistance of universal adhesives to the dent. Clearfil SE Bond has shown better connectivity results than universal adhesives.
