Amasya’da Selçuklu Sultanı II. Gıyaseddin Mesud’un ve oğlu Gazi Çelebi Taceddin Altunbaş’ın Atabey’i olan Nasıreddin Ahmed Bey’in soyundan gelenlere Atabeyzâdeler denmiştir. Nasıreddin Ahmed Atabey 1322-1327 yılları arasında beş yıl Amasya Vâlisi olarak görev yapmıştır. Amasya’da Atabey Medresesi adıyla bilinen medreseyi inşa ettirmiş, bütün arazi ve emlâkını medreseye vakfetmiştir. Nasıreddin Ahmed Atabey’in oğulları da aynı şekilde Amasya halkı arasında itibarlı bir mevkii edinmişler ve Amasya’nın geleceğinde, Osmanlı hâkimiyetini kabul etmek konusunda, basiretli davranış sergileyenler arasında yer almışlardır. Bu tutumları da ailenin Osmanlı Dönemi’nde de önemli bir yer edinmelerini sağlamıştır. Osmanlılar Dönemi’nde de önemli devlet görevlerinde bulunmuş olan Atabeyzâde ailesi, bireylerinin isimleriyle iki koldan ilerlemişlerdir. Birincisi ve en meşhur olanı Yörgüç Paşa’dır. Yörgüç Paşa soyuna mensup olanlar Yörgüç Paşazâde olarak anılmışlardır. İkincisi ise kardeşi Hızır Paşa’dır. Çocukları Hızır Paşazâde ismiyle tanınmışlardır. Atabeyzâdeler Amasya’nın siyasi ve idarî hayatında değişik üst düzey devlet hizmetlerinde görev almışlardır. XV. yüzyılda şehzâde lalası olmak Atabeyzâdeler’e mahsus bir görev hâline gelmişti. Atabeyzâdeler Amasya’da inşa ettirdikleri eğitim, dinî ve sosyal yapılarla da sosyal hayatın gelişimine de katkıda bulunmuşlardır.

Descendants of Seljuk Sultan Giyaseddin Mesud II and his son Gazi Chelebi Taceddin Altunbaş's Atabeg, Nasireddin Ahmed Beg, were called Atabegzâdes. His children have been known with the name Hizir Pashazadehs. Atabegzadehs have served in various senior assignments the Amasya's political and administrative life. In XVth century, it was more like a tradition for Atabegzadehs to be appointed as Şehzade Lalası (Prince Tutor). With the education, religious and social stuctures they have had built, Atabeyzadehs have contributed to the development of social life in Amasya.
