Tefsir, Yüce Allah’ın son ve evrensel kelamı olan Kur’an’ın açıklama ve yorumlama faaliyetine denir. Hz. Peygamber ile başlayan tefsir faaliyeti; sahabe, tâbiîn ve etbâu’t-tâbiîn ile devam etmiş ve günümüze kadar gelmiştir. İlk başta şifahî rivayetlere dayanan bu faaliyet; zamanla yazılı hale getirilmiş, bu konuda çok sayıda ve değişik eserler kaleme alınmıştır. Kur’an tefsir edilirken çeşitli yöntemlere başvurulmuştur. Kimisi; Hz. Peygamber, sahabe, tâbiîn ve diğer müfessirlerin tefsirlerini nakletmek suretiyle Kur’an’a hizmet etmeye çalışmış, kimisi de kendisi tefsir yapmaya gayret etmiştir. Kur’an, dil ilimleriyle tefsir edildiği gibi İslâmî ilimlerle de tefsir edilmeye çalışmıştır. Tefsir yapılırken Kur’an’ın terimleştirdiği kelime, ifadelere; ayetlerin siyak-sibakına ve Kur’an’ın bütünlüğüne dikkat etmek son derece önem arz etmektedir. Bunun için müfessirler, bu şekilde tefsir yapmaya önem vermiş ve bunu en önemli tefsir yöntemlerinden kabul etmişlerdir. Kur’an’ın Kur’an ile tefsir yöntemi denilen bu tefsir türünde, ayetler başka ayetler ile tefsir edilmeye çalışılmaktadır. Bu tefsir yöntemine önem veren müfessirlerden birisi de hicri 616-700/1220-1301 yılları arasında Şam’da yaşayan Hıdır b. Abdurrahman el-Ezdî’dir. Ezdî, et-Tibyân fî tefsîri’l-Kur’an adıyla kaleme aldığı tefsirinde Kur’an’ı yine Kur’an ile tefsir etmeye büyük önem vermiş; Kur’an’ın terimleştirdiği kelime ve ifadelere değinmiş; Kur’an’ın bütünlüğüne ve ayetlerin siyak-sibakına dikkat ederek tefsir yapmaya çalışmıştır. Bu çalışmada, Ezdî’nin Kur’an’ı Kur’an ile tefsir etme anlayışı üzerinde durulacak, buna göre yaptığı tefsir çeşitlerine değinilecek ve konu örneklerle somutlaştırılmaya çalışılacaktır.
