This study aimed to evaluate cardiovascular responses during the six-minute walk test (6MWT) in obese women. For this, the sample consisted of 69 volunteers, who were divided into three groups based on the body mass index: 1) normal body mass (n=16); 2) overweight (n=36) and 3) obese (n=17). All volunteers performed the 6MWT and during the test, systolic (SBP) and diastolic (DBP) blood pressure, heart rate (HR) and distance were determined. The obese group showed an exacerbated response to SBP (normal: 136,6 ± 4,8 mmHg vs. overweight: 131,1 ± 2,8 mmHg vs. obese: 156,5 ± 5,8 mmHg; p<0,05) and DBP (normal: 80,0 ± 1,6 mmHg vs. overweight: 82,2 ± 1,4 mmHg vs. obese: 88,2 ± 3,0 mmHg; p<0,05) during the six-minute walk test, while they had HR (normal: 101,8 ± 4,5 bpm vs. overweight: 102,5 ± 3,1 bpm vs. obese: 109,2 ± 4,2 bpm; p<0,05) similar to the other groups. In addition, the three groups walked the same distance during the test, indicating similar submaximal physical capacity (normal: 442,8 ± 20,5 m vs. overweight: 433,4 ± 10,4 m vs. obese: 422,9 ± 18,6 m; p>0,05). It was concluded that obese women had an exacerbated systolic and diastolic blood pressure response and heart rate similar to the normal and overweight groups during the 6MWT, despite presenting similar physical performance to the other groups.
