Sosyal medya, çoğunlukla bireyler tarafından üretilen çeşitli bilgi, belge, fotoğraf ve görüntü paylaşımlarından oluşan yeni bir sosyal paylaşım ortamıdır. Bu sosyal paylaşım ağlarında, özellikle ebeveynlerin çocuklarına ait bilgi ve görüntüleri paylaşmaları çocuk mahremiyetinin ihlali ve benzer riskler açısından yeni bir tartışma boyutu oluşturmaktadır. Bu makalede konuyla ilgili farklı bakış açıları analiz edilmiş uzmanların, ebeveynlerin ve toplumun tutum ve yaklaşımları ortaya konmuştur. Bu çalışmanın amacı, mahremiyet ve istismar kavramları çerçevesinde sosyal medya paylaşımlarını değerlendirerek, ebeveynlerin sosyal medyayı bilinçli kullanmaları konusunda öneriler sunmaktır. Buradan yola çıkarak, çalışmada üç farklı araştırma yöntemi uygulanmıştır. Araştırmaların ilkinde, sosyal medyada aktif paylaşımlar yapan 50 blogger ve 50 ünlü olmak üzere toplam 100 ebeveyn örneklem olarak seçilmiş ve paylaşımlarda çocuk fotoğraflarına hangi oranlarda yer verildiği belirlenmiştir. İkinci araştırmada, özellikle ülkemiz açısından olayın boyutlarını irdelemek amacıyla, mahkemeye ve basına intikal etmiş olan bir olay (Blogger anne Nihan Kayalıoğlu’na eşinin istismar suçlaması) durum çalışması yöntemiyle ele alınmış, olaya yönelik basın ve toplumun bakış açıları değerlendirilmiştir. Üçüncü araştırmada ise, bireylerin sosyal medya paylaşımlarıyla ilgili tutumlarını belirlemek amacıyla Türkiye’nin çeşitli bölgelerinden katılım gösteren 850 kişi ile anket çalışması yapılmıştır. Elde edilen veriler, sosyal medyada çocuk fotoğrafları paylaşmanın riskleri doğrultusunda incelenmiştir. Yapılan araştırmaların sonucunda, sosyal medyada geniş kitlelere ulaşan ebeveynlerin, paylaşımlarında büyük oranda çocuklarının fotoğraflarına yer verdikleri ve çocuklarının fotoğraflarını aktif paylaşan ebeveynlerin reklam içeriklerini de kullandıkları tespit edilmiştir. Bu çalışma ile sosyal medyada çocuk fotoğraflarını ve çocuklara ait özel bilgileri paylaşmanın mahremiyet ihlali ve çocuk istismarı açısından oluşturabileceği riskler belirlenerek, dünyada ve Türkiye’de bu konuyla ilgili mevcut durum ile olası sonuçlar ortaya konmuştur.
Social media is a new social sharing environment consisting mainly of various information, documents, photos and image sharing generated by individuals. The sharing of information and images of their children in these social media networks, especially the parents, creates a new dimension of debate in terms of child privacy breaches and similar risks. This article analyzed different views on the subject; revealed the attitudes and approaches of experts, parents and the community. The aim of this study is to evaluate social media sharing within the framework of the concepts of privacy and abuse, and to provide recommendations on parents’ conscious use of social media. From here, three different methods of research have been applied in the study. In the beginning of the research, a total of 100 parents, including 50 bloggers and 50 celebrity who have been active on social media, were selected as sample and determined how much children’s photos were included in the posts. In the second study, in particular from the point of view of our country, the measure of the incident was addressed to the court and the press by the method of the study of the situation of an incident (blogger mother Nihan Kayalıoğlu's wife's abuse accusation), the press and society's views on the incident were assessed. In the third study, an survey was conducted with 850 people from different regions of Turkey who participated in the social media sharing to determine their attitudes. The data obtained was studied according to the risks of sharing children’s photos on social media. The research found that parents who reached a wide audience on social media, put a large part of their children’s photos in their shares and also used advertising content from parents who actively share their children’s photos. This study has identified the risks that the sharing of children’s photos and personal information on social media may pose in terms of privacy breach and child abuse, and has revealed the possible consequences with the current situation in the world and in Turkey related to this issue.
Social media is a new social sharing environment that consists of a variety of information, documents, photos, and images that are mostly produced by individuals. In these social sharing networks, especially the sharing of information and images by parents of their children has created a new dimension of discussion in terms of violation of child privacy and similar risks. In this article, different perspectives have been analyzed; the attitudes and approaches of experts, parents, and society have been put forward. The aim of this study is to evaluate the social media sharing within the framework of the concepts of privacy and abuse and to present suggestions for parents to use social media consciously. Hereby, three different types of research have done in this study. In the first study, a total of 100 parents, 50 bloggers, and 50 celebrities, who actively share in social media, were selected as a sample and statistical data were obtained to determine the proportions of children's photographs and the content of childhood photographs. In the second study, in order to examine the dimensions of the incident, especially in the context of our country, a case which has reflected to media and the court (the accusation of abuse by Nihan Kayalıoglu’s husband) has been studied according to case study method, and perspectives of media and the society has been evaluated. In the third study, in order to determine their attitudes about social media sharing individuals that participated in the various regions of Turkey, 850 people survey was conducted. The results of data were analyzed according to the risks of sharing children's photos on social media. As a result of the researches, it has been determined that parents who reach audiences in social media share their children 's photos in their sharing and parents who share their children' s photographs actively use advertising content. In this study, while the risks of child abuse and invasion of privacy, that may be caused by sharing child photos and special pieces of information about children on social media have been determined, existing situation in the world and Turkey has been revealed.
