Abstract:

Amaç: Bu araştırmanın amacı psikiyatri alanı dışında çalışan hemşirelerin psikiyatri hemşireliğine yönelik algılarını belirlemektedir. Yöntem: Kesitsel tipteki araştırma Ağustos-Kasım 2019 tarihleri arasında yapılmıştır. Bir Üniversite Eğitim Araştırma Hastanesi’nde aktif olarak çalışma hayatına devam eden ve psikiyatri dışı birimlerde çalışan toplam 241 hemşire araştırmaya katılmıştır. Verilerin analizi 231 anket üzerinden yapılmıştır. Araştırmada, tanıtıcı bilgi formu ve Psikiyatri Hemşireliğine Yönelik Algılar Ölçeği kullanılmıştır. Sosyodemografik veriler sayı ve yüzde dağılımları ile değerlendirilmiş ve değişkenler arasındaki fark Mann-Whitney U ve Kruskall Wallis analizleriyle incelenmiştir. Bulgular: Araştırmaya katılan hemşirelerin %93.5’i (n:216) kadın ve yaş ortalaması 39.70±7.00’dir. Hemşirelerin psikiyatri hemşireliğini algılama ölçeği puan ortalaması 49.13±9.87 olarak bulunmuştur. Hemşirelerin çalıştığı birim, çalışma süresi, psikiyatride çalışmak isteme durumu, psikiyatri hemşireliği konusundaki bilgisini elde ettiği kaynak ve bu konudaki bilgisini yeterli bulma durumuna göre Psikiyatri Hemşireliğini Algılama Ölçek puan ortalamaları istatistiksel olarak anlamlı düzeyde farklı bulunmuştur (p<0.05). Sonuç: Psikiyatri alanı dışında çalışan hemşirelerin psikiyatri hemşireliğine yönelik algılarının olumlu olduğu, yoğun bakım, cerrahi ve dahili birimlerde çalışan, 6-10 yıllık mesleki deneyime sahip olan, psikiyatride çalışmak isteyen ve bu konudaki bilgisini öğrenimi sırasındaki derslerden elde eden ve bu bilgiyi yeterli bulan hemşirelerin psikiyatri hemşireliğine yönelik algılarının daha olumlu olduğu belirlenmiştir. Objective: The aim of this study is to determine the perceptions of nurses who works outside the psychiatry clinic towards psychiatric nursing. Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted between August and November 2019. A total of 241 nurses who are actively working in a university education and research hospital and working in non-psychiatric units participated in the study. Data analysis was performed on 231 people. In this study, introductory information form and Psychiatric Nursing Perception Scale were used. The sociodemographic data were evaluated by number and percentage distributions, and the difference between the variables was analyzed by Mann-Whitney U and Kruskall Wallis analyzes. Results: The mean age of the nurses participating in the study was 39.70 ± 7.00 and 93.5% (n: 216) were women. The mean score of the nurses from the Psychiatric Nursing Perception Scale was found to be 49.13±9.87. A significant difference was found between the unit where the nurses worked, the duration of work, the state of wanting to work in psychiatry, the willingness to work in the psychiatry clinic, the state of receiving theoretical information about psychiatric nursing, and the assessment of this level of knowledge and the scale scores. (p<0.005) Conclusion: Perceptions of nurses working outside the field of psychiatry towards psychiatric nursing are positive, nurses working in intensive care, surgery and internal units, having 6-10 years of professional experience, wanting to work in psychiatry units and gaining their knowledge from the courses during their education and finding this information sufficient were found to have more positive perceptions of psychiatric nursing.
