Fotoğraf, ânı yakalamakta, o ânı temsil etmekte, o andaki gerçekliği yansıtmakta ve o andaki gerçekliğe göndermede bulunmaktadır. Fotoğraf geçmişte yaşananlara dair bir belge, geçmişi bugüne taşıyan, o âna ve o andaki gerçekliğe dair hafızayı / belleği harekete geçiren bir imgedir. Bir imge ve belge olarak fotoğraf, bireysel ve toplumsal hafızanın hatırlatıcısı, taşıyıcısı ve aktarıcısıdır. Bu makale, Gülsün Karamustafa’nın bireysel bir anıya ait fotoğrafı üzerinden, o fotoğrafı yeniden tekrar üreterek oluşturduğu eserler üzerinden toplumsal hafızaya dair tanıklıklarını incelmeyi ve değerlendirmeyi amaçlamaktadır. Bireysel anlara ve olaylara ait bilgilerin taşıyıcısı olan fotoğraflar, yeniden üretildiklerinde geçmişi bugüne taşıyarak, geçmişe dair belleğin, şu anda da bir sorgulanması için alan açmaktadır. Bununla birlikte geçmişte görünmeyen toplumsal hafızayı, o an ve şu anda ve de gelecekte görünür kılmaktadır. Betimsel modele dayalı nitel bir araştırma modeliyle incelenen bu makalede, sanatçının bireysel fotoğraflarından ürettiği eserleri üzerinden “unutma” ve “hatırlama” arasındaki bireysel ve toplumsal olan arasındaki ilişki incelenmektedir.
Photography captures the moment, represents it, reflects the reality of that moment, and makes reference to that reality. Photography is a document on what happened in the past and an image that carries the past to the present and activates the memory of that moment and its reality. As an image and document, photography is a reminder, carrier and transmitter of individual and social memory. This article aims to examine and evaluate Gülsün Karamustafa's testimony on collective memory through her works that she created by taking a photograph of her own memory as a reference. Photographs that carry information about individual moments and events, when reproduced, bring the past to the present, opening up space for questioning memory of the past in the present. Furthermore, they make visible the social memory that was not visible in the past, as well as in the present and future. This article that is based on a descriptive qualitative research model examines the relationship between individual and social memory in the context of "forgetting" and "remembering" through the works that the artist created from her individual photographs.
