Interpersonal competition and uncertainty in the work are the fundamental dynamics of today’s work life and significantly affect employer’s attitude and behavior. In this study, it was studied whether detected competitive work environment and quantitative uncertainty trigger employment-related tension in employees; whether the success target directions adopted by employees, detected competitive work environment-related tension and detected quantitative work uncertainty-related tension, resulted in a significant differentiation in the relationship. The field research was carried out on the medical sales officers in the Adana province. The results of the survey were obtained from 226 participants: reliability, verifying factor analysis, correlation and hierarchical regression analysis. The results showed that the increased competition that employees perceive increased the work-related tension that they experience, and that their goal of success did not play a regulatory role. However, the detected quantitative uncertainty of work has been found to have a positive impact on employment tensions; the levels of employment tensions are varied depending on the level of mastery and demonstration orientation that the participants have.
