İstenilen sesi bir yerden bir yere elektromanyetik dalgalar vasıtasıyla ileten Radyo’nun keşfi, hiç şüphesiz 19.yy’ın en önemli olaylarından biridir. Tüm dünyayı kısa sürede derinden etkileyen radyo toplumsal, kültürel, siyasal, askeri, iktisadi ve eğitim alanında ülkemizi de derinden etkilemiştir. Bu çalışmada Radyo’nun dünyada ve ülkemizde tarihsel gelişim süreci anlatıldıktan sonra, Radyo’nun, Demokrat Parti (1950-1960) iktidarı döneminde, demokratik yaşama ve siyasette etkisi incelenmiştir. Aralıksız on yıl iktidar partisi olan Demokrat Parti’nin (DP) radyoyu kültürel, siyasal ve toplumsal anlamda demokratik kriterlere iktidar döneminde nasıl kullandığı, iktidarın başladığı 2 Haziran 1950 tarihinden itibaren, ezici bir zafer kazandığı 1954 seçimleri ve kısmen gerilediği 1957 seçim dönemlerinden, 27 Mayıs 1960 askeri darbesine kadar olan on yıllık dönem ele alınmıştır. Çalışmanın amacı, Demokrat Parti’nin radyoyu “kültürel ve siyasal bir araç” olarak, muhalefetin sert tepkilerine rağmen vatan-millet hizmetinde kullanmasının siyasal ve demokratik hayata etkileri incelemektir. Çalışmanın önemi, devlet radyosunun iktidarda olan siyasi gücün “tek taraflı” olarak kullanmasının, demokratik yaşam ve siyasal hayatta etkilerini ortaya koyması olacaktır. Bunun için çalışmada literatür tarama yöntemiyle elde edilen veriler, tarihsel bir bakış açısıyla analiz edilmiştir. Varılan sonuçlara göre, Radyo, demokratik yaşam ve siyaset üzerinde, ülkenin ve milletin maddi-manevi değerlerini önemli derecede etkili olmuştur.
The discovery of the radio, which transmits the desired sound from one place to another through electromagnetic waves, is undoubtedly one of the most important events of the 19th century. Radio, which has deeply influenced the whole world in a short time, has deeply influenced our country in the social, cultural, political, military, economic and educational fields. After this study described the historic development of the radio in the world and in our country, the influence of the radio on democratic life and politics was studied during the period of the Democratic Party (1950-1960) power. It has been discussed how the Democratic Party (DP) radio used democratic criteria in cultural, political and social terms during the period of power, from 2 June 1950 when the power began, the 1954 elections in which a massive victory was won and the 1957 elections in which it partially declined, the ten-year period, from 27 May 1960 to the military coup. The aim of the study is to examine the impact of the Democratic Party’s radio as a “cultural and political tool” on political and democratic life, despite the strong reactions of the opposition. The importance of the study will be that the state radio’s use of the political power in power as “unilateral” will reveal its effects on democratic life and political life. For this purpose, the data obtained by the literary scan method in the study was analyzed from a historical perspective. According to the results obtained, Radio has had a significant impact on democratic life and politics, the material and spiritual values of the country and the nation.

Theaim of thestudy is toexaminetheeffects of theDemocraticParty’suse of radio as a “culturalandpoliticaltool, in the service of thenation-nationdespitetheharshreactions of theopposition on thepoliticalanddemocratic life.Theimportance of thestudywill be thattheuse of thestateradio as a “unilateral on politicalpower in powerrevealstheeffects of democratic life andpolitical life. Forthispurpose, thedataobtainedbyliteraturesearchmethodwereanalyzedfrom a historicalpoint of view. Accordingtotheresults, Radio has had a significanteffect on thematerialand moral values of thecountryandthenation on democratic life andpolitics.
