In this research, I tried to explain what role dialects play in the character construction in Charles Dickens’ The Pickwick Papers, George Eliot’s Adam Bede, and Emily Bronte’s Wuthering Heights. The findings of this work suggest that these three authors of the Victorian literature used dialect to both individualize characters and to bind them to a certain groups, which can mostly be defined by social status. A list of references is shared at the end. Keywords: Class, Dialect, Adam Bede, Emily Bronte.
