Özet:

Community capacity is a sociological concept that questioning the development tendency of any society. This concept as a multifactorial tool plays an important role for regions so as to make benefit of their tourism potentials. The aim of this study is to measure of community capacity of Adıyaman from the viewpoint of local people. In this respect authors conducted a questionnaire of 458 local people living in city center of whom were selected by judgement sampling. Depending on research results, local people evaluate the community capacity as four factors of "local governance and ownership","local investment", adaptation of young people" and "entrepreneurship". It is possible to say that, locals have low level of perception regarding community capacity (in all factors). According to locals, there is lack of investments because of inadequate ownership of businessmen in Adıyaman, youth population is not supported and there is not enough sufficient facilities such as sporting, educational etc. to youth development. In light of these findings, some proposals have been made for the development of community capacity which is extremely important in order to achieve the necessary acceleration for tourism in Adıyaman
