Abstract:

Content validity assessment is an essential step in the instruments development process. Despite its importance,it is an overlookedaspect and is rarely addressed in validating content of the survey instruments forBring Your Own Device (BYOD) protection behaviours. In particular, there is still a lack of systematic approach in conducting a content validity study. The purpose of this article is to demonstrate the procedures in conducting a content validity including preparation of content validation form, selection of experts, reviewing the items, and analysis of the responses from the experts. The content validity for this study relies on expert judgements, who need to provide the evaluation for each item for respective construct in the questionnaire. Their responses were evaluated using Lawshe’s technique that uses the calculation of Content Validity Ratio (CVR). The results of CVR showed that 68 questionnaire items are valid for the assessment of determinants of protection behaviours of BYOD. This study will shed lights on procedures in conducting content validity for both practitioners and researchers in BYOD environment, and hence, can improve instruments validity
