Abstract:

In the studies on drawing problems, the preparation times of the work are often ignored or included in the processing time and the solutions approaches are developed. However, in some production systems, preparation times may be important enough to not be overlooked, and processing times may also need to be considered separate from preparation times. In the production systems, the work is usually done according to automatic machine processes and the input times do not show a change according to the process order. But when the preparation times are concerned, the human factor is activated because the preparation processes are frequently repeated and the preparation time is reduced. This phenomenon is defined as an influence of learning in charting literature. In this study, the problem of two-machine flow type scheduling will be introduced in the case that preparation times are effective in learning. The total completion time, which holds a very important place in the graphic literature, has been considered as performance measurement. A mathematical programming approach to the problem is developed and the results are compared according to different preparation intervals and learning effects. Experimental results have also been shown by developing large-scale problems and intrinsic approaches.
