Abstract:

The institution of deferral of the announcement of verdict, which was introduced into our legal system upon enactment of the Criminal Procedure Law No. 5721, has brought several problems as well, some of which were caused by the wording of the law while some others were due to its implementation in practice. The problems that were caused by the wording of the law were tried to be removed by subsequent amendments to Article 231 of the Criminal Procedure Law regulating the deferral of the announcement of verdict; however, several structural problems still remain unresolved despite such amendments
