AHŞAP MALZEMELERİN ISLANABİLİRLİK ÖZELLİĞİ ÜZERİNE ISIL İŞLEM UYGULAMASININ ETKİSİ

Ahşap malzeme yapılarda kullanılan en eski yapı malzemelerinden biridir ve birçok alanda kullanılmaktadır. Ancak bu malzemenin hidrofilik bir malzeme olması kullanım alanını sınırlandırmaktadır. Bu nedenle geliştirilmiş birçok odun modifikasyon yöntemleri bulunmaktadır. Bu odun modifikasyon yöntemlerinden biri de ahşap malzemenin ısıl işleme tabi tutulmasıdır. Ahşap malzemenin ısıl işleme tabi tutulması çevre dostu bir ağaç koruma yöntemi olmasından dolayı büyük ilgi görmektedir. Isıl işleme tabi tutulmamış ahşap malzeme hidrofiliktir. Ancak ısıl işleme tabi tutulduktan sonra ahşap malzeme hidrofobik özellik kazanmakta ve biyolojik saldırılara karşı daha dirençli hale gelmektedir. Ayrıca, ısıl işlem görmemiş malzemeye kıyasla boyutsal olarak daha kararlı hale gelmektedir. Isıl işlem, farklı ağaç türlerinden elde edilen odunlar üzerinde farklı etkiler oluşturmaktadır. Isıl işlem görmüş ahşabın ıslanma özelliklerinin incelenmesi, ahşap malzemenin hidrofobiklik özelliği üzerine ısıl işlem etkilerinin incelenmesinde iyi bir göstergedir. Bu çalışmanın amacı, ısıl işlem görmüş Sedir ve Iroko ağaç türünün dinamik ıslatma özelliklerini incelemektir. Çalışmada elde edilen veriler ısıl işlem uygulanmış örneklerin temas açısı değerlerinin kontrol örneklerine göre daha yüksek olduğunu göstermektedir. Dolayısıyla, ısıl işlem uygulamasının ağaç malzemenin ıslanabilirlik özelliğini azalttığı söylenebilmektedir.

Abstract:

Wood material is one of the oldest building materials used in structures and is used in many areas. However, this material is a hydrophilic material that limits the use area. There are many methods of modification of wood developed. One of the methods of this wood modification is the heating processing of wood materials. The maintenance of wood material is very interesting because it is an environmentally friendly method of trees protection. Heating processing is hydrophilic wood material not subject. However, after heating processing, wood material gains hydrophobic properties and becomes more resistant to biological attacks. Also, the heat processing becomes more dimensionally stable than the unprocessed material. The heating process creates different effects on trees obtained from different trees. The study of the moisturizing properties of heated trees is a good indicator in the study of the heat processing effects on the hydrophobic properties of the wood material. The aim of this study is to study the dynamic moisture characteristics of the heat-processed Sedir and Iroko tree species. The data obtained in the study shows that the contact angle values of the applied heat processing samples are higher than the control samples. Therefore, it can be said that the application of heat processing reduces the moisturizable characteristic of the wood material.

Therefore, many improved wood modification methods are available. One of these wood modification methods is the heat treatment of wood. Heat treatment of wood is great interest as it is an environmentally friendly tree protection method. The unheat-treated wood is hydrophilic. However, after heat treatment, the wood material becomes hydrophobic and becomes more resistant to biological attack. It also becomes dimensionally more stable than unheat-treated material. Heat treatment creates different effects on woods obtained from different tree species. The examination of the wettability properties of the heat treated wood is a good indicator for the heat treatment effects on the hydrophobicity of the wood material. The aim of this study is to examine the dynamic wettability properties of a tree with a thermally treated Cedar and Iroco. The data obtained from the study showed that the contact angle values of the samples were higher than the control samples. Therefore, it can be said that the heat treatment application reduces the wettability of the wood material.
