Objective: The aim of this systematic review is to determine the effectiveness of the motivational interviewing on health behavior change in adolescents. Methods: Databases including PubMed, Science Direct and Wiley Interscience were searched for 13 randomized controlled trials between 2013 and 2020. Results: In the studies examined adolescents are between 10-19 years old. The sample of most studies was composed of adolescents with overweight and obesity. The number of motivational interviewing is at least twı and at most 16. The duration of the studies varies between three and 24 months. It was determined that the motivational interviewing durations were between 15 and 90 minutes. In most studies, it was determined that motivational interviewing had a positive effect on health behavior change in adolescents. Conclusion: According to the results of the research, the use of motivational in the health behavior change in adolescents increases success. Therefore, it is advised to be used by nurses.
