Mahmud Paşa devşirme kökenlidir. Sarayda yetişmiş, yüksek seviyede eğitim görmüş, sadrazamlık, kazaskerlik, donanma komutanlığı gibi devletin en üst kademelerinde görev almıştır. Fatih’in en yakınında bulunmuş onun güvenini kazanmış bir devlet adamı edip ve âlimdir. Savaşta ve barışta, hayır işlerinde bilim ve sanat faaliyetlerinde yaptığı hizmetlerle adından söz ettirmiştir. İlmî ve edebî şahsiyetleri himaye ve teşvik etmiş onları çevresinde toplayarak bir mahfil kurmuştur. Eski Anadolu Türkçesinden Osmanlı Türkçesine geçiş döneminde, XV. yüzyılın ikinci yarısında eser vermiştir. Türkçe şiirler yanında Farsça şiir ve inşâlar kaleme almıştır. Şiirlerinde Adnî mahlasını kullanmıştır. Türkçe Divanı’nda bir kaside 96 gazel bulunmaktadır. Onun az sayıdaki şiirlerinde deyim ve atasözlerinden mahalli söyleyişlere, âdet ve geleneklerden halk inanışlarına kadar toplum hayatına ait unsurları yoğun olarak görmek mümkündür. Aşkı ve sevgilinin güzellik unsurlarını tabiattaki ve toplum hayatındaki gözlemleriyle ilişkilendirerek ince hayallere dönüştürmüş, söz sanatlarıyla ustaca terennüm etmiştir. Çalışmada Adnî hakkında kısa bilgi verildikten sonra şiirleri toplum hayatı, âdet ve gelenekler, inanışlar bakımından incelenmiştir. Şiirleri yaşadığı devir, bulunduğu konum, Farsçaya hâkimiyeti göz önünde bulundurulduğunda klasik Türk şiirinin toplumla ne kadar iç içe olduğunun bir göstergesidir.
Mahmud Pasha is of devshirme origin. He was educated in the palace, had a high level of education, and worked at the highest levels of the state such as grand viziers, military personnel and naval commanders. He is a statesman and a scholar who was found closest to Fatih and gained his trust. He made a name for himself with his services in science and art activities in war and peace, charity. He protected and encouraged scientific and literary figures, gathered them around him and established a gallery. During the transition period from Old Anatolian Turkish to Ottoman Turkish, XV. he produced works in the second half of the century. Besides Turkish poems, he wrote Persian poems and prose. He used the pseudonym Adni in his poems. There are 96 gazelles in one ode in the Turkish Divan’s. In his few poems, it is possible to see elements of social life from idioms and proverbs to local expressions, customs and traditions to folk beliefs. He associated the beauty elements of love and lover with his observations in nature and social life. He transformed it into fine dreams and explained it skillfully with the arts of speech. In the study, after giving brief information about Adni, his poems were examined in terms of social life, customs and traditions and beliefs. His poems are an indication of how classical Turkish poetry is intertwined with the society, considering the period in which he lived, his position and his dominance of Persian.
