Although the family is a natural and ideal environment for children to grow, some children are forced to live family-free for a variety of reasons.  According to international and national legislation, the public is responsible for identifying, protecting and benefiting from alternative services models of children who are in need of protection. However, there are public institutions and civil society organizations that provide services globally to children in need of protection.     In this study, a critical approach will be addressed by the services, the organization model and the practices of the International SOS Children's Villages, one of the civil society organizations that provide services to children with poor parents worldwide, to children in need of protection. The international SOS children's village model consists of four components: "mother, daughter and sister, home and village". The international SOS claims that with this model it creates a "real" family environment for the children who lack parents. The International SOS will continue to provide services to 81,700 children and youth with 572 children's villages in Africa, America, Asia and the Ocean and Europe by the end of 2017.         This study, which deals with international children’s villages from a critical approach and the perspective of children’s rights, is expected to contribute to a better understanding of SOS Children’s Protection models and to work in the field of child welfare.

According to international and national legislation, it is the responsibility of the state to identify and protect children who are deprived of parental care  and help them to access alternative service models. In addition to public institutions, there are non-governmental organizations across the world that provide services to children in need of protection. In this study, the International SOS Children Villages, which is one of the organizations that provides worldwide services  to the  children deprived of parental care,  will be examined with a critical approach in terms of its services to children in need of care, organizational models and practices in Turkey. International SOS children village model consists of four components:  “mothers, sisters and brothers, house and village" . International SOS asserts that this model creates a "real" family environment for children deprived of parental care. As of the end of 2017, the International SOS continues to provide services to 572 Children's Village and 81.700 children and young people in Africa, America, Asia and Oceania and Europe. This study, which  examines the International Children Villages from a critical perspective and from the perspective of children rights, is expected to contribute to a better understanding of SOS Child Care Models and  their efforts in the field of child welfare.
