Abstract:

In the 16th century Ottoman judicial system, there is a species of female mentioned as a land woman in the Anatolian states. According to the Mahisi, the land female, which is subject to different assessments, has been treated as a travel female, inspected by the Ottoman historians since Ismail Hakkı Uzunçarşılı. Recently, some legal historians have revealed the idea that land female is a local female. First of all, the current debate in literature has been discussed. In the Ottoman records, it is focused on when and how the land female character was used. The study showed how different the characteristics of these women are. The assessment of the responsibilities and responsibilities of the farmers sent from the center has been made and it has been determined how much this matter is connected with the responsibilities of the accident/member women. Over a period of two centuries, archive records, fetva books, women’s records and the legislation regulated in the corresponding periods have been drawn up. The results of the investigations have found that the term “land woman” is not a special woman, but the woman of the neighborhood where the events are carried out.
