Hasbahçeler, Osmanlı Devleti’nde padişahların eğlenme ve dinlenmeleri için kurulmuş bahçelerdir. Başta Yenisaray’daki bahçe olmak üzere, Boğaziçi, Haliç, Edirne, Bursa, İzmit, Amasya ve Manisa’da birçok hasbahçe bulunmaktaydı. Bu bahçelerden biri olan Sultaniye hasbahçesi II. Bayezid tarafından kurulmuştur. Boğaziçi’nde Paşabahçe ile Beykoz arasında yer alan bu bahçe asıl gelişimini I. Süleyman ve III. Murada borçludur. Boğaziçi’ninbüyük bahçelerinden biri olan bu bahçe sadeliğiyle dikkat çekmekteydi. Burada avlanma, cirit, tomak, güreş, atıcılık, musiki fasılları, ziyafet gibi faaliyetler tertip edilirdi. 19. yüzyılın ikinci yarısından itibaren önemini kaybeden bu bahçe üzerinde zamanla cam fabrikası, okul, stadyum gibi yapılar kurulmuştur. Bahçenin geriye kalan kısmıysa park hâline getirilmiştir.
