2011 yılından beri yoğun bir şekilde göç alan ve geçici koruma kapsamında kendilerine birçok alanda yardım eli uzatılan Suriyeli sığınmacılar günümüzde ülkemizin neredeyse 81 iline dağılmış olsalar da yoğun olarak Hatay ilinde yaşıyor olmaları bu ilimizde eğitim öğretim alanında karşılaşılan sorunları belirleyebilmek açısından araştırmayı önemli hale getirmiştir. Bu çalışmanın temel amacı, Suriyeli ortaokul öğrencilerinin geometri öğretiminde karşılaştıkları sorunları Suriyeli öğrencilerin dersine giren öğretmenlerin görüşlerine başvurarak belirlemek, incelemek ve çözüm önerileri sunmaktır. Araştırmanın çalışma grubunu 2020-2021 eğitim-öğretim yılında Hatay ilinde yer alan resmi ve devlet ortaokullarında görev yapan ve Suriyeli öğrencilerin dersine giren 32 öğretmen oluşturmaktadır. Bu çalışma nitel bir araştırma olup bu çalışmada betimsel tarama modeli kullanılmıştır. Araştırmada veri toplama aracı olarak araştırmacı tarafından hazırlanıp uzman görüşüne sunulan “Suriyeli Ortaokul Öğrencilerine Geometri Öğretiminde Karşılaşılan Sorunlara Yönelik Öğretmen Görüşme Formu” isimli yapılandırılmış görüşme formu kullanılmıştır. Yapılandırılmış görüşme formundan elde edilen veriler, içerik analizi yöntemi ile değerlendirilmiştir. Araştırmada öğrencilerin ders süreci, materyal kullanımı, mevzuat ve aile işbirliği süreci ve eğitim öncesi hazırlık süreçleri ayrı ayrı ele alınmış olup öğretmenlere uygulanan görüşme formundan elde edilen bulgular ışığında bir takım değerlendirmeler yapılmıştır. Suriyeli öğrencilerin; eğitim öğretim ortamlarında özellikle dil ve iletişim problemleri yaşadıkları, geometri dersinde öğretimlerinin materyal kullanımı ile desteklenmesinin önemli olduğu, okul aile işbirliği konusunda ailelerin çocuklarını yeterince destekleyemedikleri ve Suriyeli öğrencilerin okula başlamadan önce bir hazırlık eğitimi almalarının gerekliliği bulgularına ulaşılmıştır.
Since 2011 and having been helped in many areas within the scope of temporary protection ,the Syrian refugees, today, are densely populated in Hatay although distributed to almost 81 cities of our country, which make this study important in terms of identifying the issues encountered in the field of education in Hatay. The main purpose of this study is to identify, examine, and offer solutions to the problems Syrian secondary school students encounter in geometry teaching by consulting the teachers who lecture Syrian students. The study group of the research consists of 32 teachers who work in private and state secondary schools in the province of Hatay in the 2020/2021 academic year and lecture Syrian students. This study is a qualitative research and descriptive survey model was used in this study. As a data collection tool, a structured interview form named “Teacher Interview Form Regarding Problems Encountered in Teaching Geometry to Syrian Secondary School Students” prepared by the researcher and presented to expert opinion was used in this study. The data obtained from the structured interview form were evaluated using the content analysis method. Having been migrating intensively In the study, the students' lesson process material usage, the process of legislation and the family collaboration, and the process of pre-education preparation are discussed separately, and a set of evaluations are carried out in consideration of the findings obtained from the interview forms applied to the teachers. The results of this study show that the syrian students have especially language and communication problems in the educational environments; that it is important to support their geometry teaching with the use of materials; that the families are unable to adequately support their children in respect of school-family cooperation; and that it is essential for the syrian students to receive preparatory education before starting the school.
