Mustafa Kemal Paşa IX. Ordu Kıt’aatı Müfettişi sıfatıyla 16 Mayıs 1919 tarihinde İstanbul’dan Samsun’a hareket ederken bir bakıma Millî Mücadele’ye giden sürecin de ilk adımını atmıştı. Havza Genelgesi (28 Mayıs 1919) ve Amasya Tamimi (22 Haziran 1919) ile Millî Mücadele’nin amaç ve yöntemi belirtilmişti. Mustafa Kemal Paşa, Erzurum Kongresi sürecinde Mazhar Müfit (Kansu) Bey’e: “Şekli Hükümet zamanı gelince Cumhuriyet olacaktır.” diyerek ileriye yönelik yeni rejim açıkça beyan edilmiştir. Bu doğrultuda Erzurum Kongresi’nde (23 Temmuz–7 Ağustos 1919) ve Sivas Kongresi’nde (4–11 Eylül 1919) alınan kararlar içerisinde yer alan “Millî iradeyi hâkim kılmak esastır.” ifadesi ile Cumhuriyet rejimine işaret edilmiştir. Yaklaşık dört yıl sonra 29 Ekim 1923’te Cumhuriyet’in ilanı ile birlikte bu hedefe ulaşılmıştır. Türkiye’de Cumhuriyet Bayramı kutlamalarına ilişkin ilk yasal düzenleme 19 Nisan 1924 tarihinde yapılmıştır. 27 Ekim 1924 tarihinde ise Cumhurbaşkanlığı tarafından bir bildiri yayımlanarak 29 Ekim’de uygulanacak program açıklanmış ve 29 Ekim 1924 tarihinde Cumhuriyet’in 1. Yıl Dönümü kutlanmıştır. Cumhuriyet’in 10. Yıl Dönümü kutlamaları için ise 11 Haziran 1933 tarihinde bir kanun yayımlanmıştır. 29 Ekim 1933’te gerçekleştirilen Cumhuriyet’in 10. Yıl Kutlamaları üç gün sürmüştür. 27 Mayıs 1935 tarihinde yürürlüğe giren kanun ile de Ulusal Bayram’ın yalnızca Cumhuriyet’in ilan edildiği 29 Ekim günü olduğu belirtilmiştir. Cumhuriyet’in 100. Yıl Dönümü Kutlamaları ise ülke genelinde olduğu gibi Cumhuriyet’e giden yolda kritik bir yere ve öneme sahip Erzurum’da da büyük bir coşkuyla kutlanmıştır. Bu çalışmada Cumhuriyet’e giden yoldaki en önemli duraklardan biri olan Erzurum’da bir asır sonra 29 Ekim 2023’te gerçekleştirilen Cumhuriyet’in 100. Yıl Dönümü Kutlamaları’nın şehir merkezindeki ve ilçelerindeki yansımaları ele alınmıştır
When Mustafa Kemal Pasha left Istanbul for Samsun on May 16, 1919, as the Inspector of the IXth Army Corps, in a way, he took the first step of the process leading to the National Struggle. With the Havza Circular (May 28, 1919) and the Amasya Declaration (June 22, 1919), the purpose and method of the National Struggle were specified. During the Erzurum Congress, Mustafa Kemal Pasha told Mazhar Müfit (Kansu): “The form of government will be a Republic in due course,” making a clear declaration of the new regime for the future. In this direction, the decisions taken at the Erzurum Congress (July 23–August 7, 1919) and the Sivas Congress (September 4–11, 1919) included the phrase “It is essential to make the national will dominant,” which referred to the Republican regime. This goal was achieved approximately 4 years later with the proclamation of the Republic on October 29, 1923. The first legal regulation on Republic Day celebrations in Turkey was made on April 19, 1924. On October 27, 1924, a declaration was issued by the Presidency, and the program to be implemented on October 29 was announced. The first anniversary of the Republic was celebrated on October 29, 1924. A law was published on June 11, 1933, for the tenth anniversary of the Republic celebrations. The tenth anniversary of the Republic celebrations, held on October 29, 1933, lasted for 3 days. On May 27, 1935, a law came into force stating that the National Holiday was only on October 29, the day the Republic was proclaimed. The 100th anniversary celebrations of the Republic were celebrated with great enthusiasm in Erzurum, which has a critical place and importance on the road to the Republic, as well as throughout the country. In this study, the reflections of the 100th anniversary celebrations of the Republic held on October 29, 2023, a century later in Erzurum, one of the most important stops on the road to the Republic, in the city center and its districts are discussed.
