Bu çalışma, Avrupa Birliğine aday ülke Türkiye’de yaşayan engelli bireylerin (tekerlekli sandalye kullanıcıları) yaşam hakkı kavramı çerçevesinde konut mekân donatı elemanları ve mobilya kullanımına yönelik hareket özgürlüklerini tespit etmeyi amaçlamıştır. Bu amaç doğrultusunda başkent Ankara alan çalışması olarak seçilmiştir. Bu kentte yaşayan 72 tekerlekli sandalye kullanıcısına araştırma anketi uygulanmış ve veriler Spider metoduna göre analiz edilmiştir. Sonuçta, tekerlekli sandalye kullanıcılarının yaşamsal ihtiyaçlarının giderilmesinde konut içi ve konut dışı eylemsel hareketlerinde konut mekân donatı elemanları ve mobilya kullanımında zorluk/sorunlar yaşadıkları tespit edilmiştir. Bu durumun tekerlekli sandalye kullanıcılarının hayatlarını zorlaştırdığı ve yaşam kalitelerini olumsuz yönde etkileyerek yaşam haklarının kullanılmasında engel olduğu tespit edilmiştir.
This study aims to analyze the maneuvering freedom of wheelchair users, live in Turkey, a candidate of European Union, at interior and exterior home for using housing elements and furniture in respect to the concept of life rights. For this aim, the capitol city Ankara is chosen for a case study. A research questionnaire was carried out with the 72 wheelchair users and the obtained data was analyzed in accordance with the Spider Method. According to the research findings, difficulties were identified in fulfilling the life need, carrying out the activities and use of housing elements and furniture at both interior and exterior home. This result makes the life of disability difficult and affects their lives with the reduction of life quality. This ends up with obstacles in the use of disability rights.
