Abstract:

Objective: It is important to use evidence-based practices for pediatric patients can receive the best care. This research is conducted to determine the attitudes of the nurses working in children’s hospital on evidence-based practices. Methods: This study, with an analytical-cross-sectional design was conducted in a children’s hospital. The sample of the study consisted of 143 nurses working in this children’s hospital, who agreed to participate in the study. In order to collect data in the study, “Introductory Information Form” and “Evidence-Based Practice Attitude Scale-50 Item’’. In the analysis of the data, as well as frequency and descriptive statistics, Kolmogorov Smirnov test, Kruskal Wallis test, Mann Whitney U test, Independent Sample T Test were used. Ethics Committee approval was taken in order to conduct the study. Results: 68.5% of the nurses in the study are women and the average age of the participants is 32.39±7.70 years. The scale total score average of the nurses is 115.24±24.90. There is no difference between the nurses' age, seizure working time, weekly working time, gender, working time, educational status, working style, nursing journal follow-up status and research status the scale total mean scores (p>0.05). There is a difference between educational status and average scores of divergence, limitation, responsibility/burden sub-dimension (p<0.05). Conclusion: In this study, it was determined that the nurses' attitudes towards evidence-based practices were moderate. It is recommended to establish guidelines for evidence-based practices and to plan trainings for evidence-based care practices.
