Abstract:

This work by Tayeb El-Hibri, titled The Abbasid Caliphate, examines Abbasid history in a holistic way. It is a satisfying work in the context of scientific investigation, which pays attention to analysis, interpretation and inferences rather than purely historical information, especially bringing the prominent features and events of the ages to the agenda with an implicit periodization claim. It has a structural feature intensifying in detailed themes from the revolution to the establishment, the golden age theme, the institutional stagnation as the state, the authoritarian structure of the caliphate and finally its collapse. The author has touched on every event that relates to Abbasid history and is both local and directly related to world history, and related contacts are processed in the center of Abbasids. At this level, the claim of periodization was discussed in the study, the basic motives in the quality and success of the revolution were taken into account, the author's inquiries about the term state that emerged with the Abbasids were mentioned, his ability to house many different branches of science in the same palace was questioned, and its connection with the theory of uniformity was explained, and the Mongol invasion took place. The policy that prepared the ground and applied by the Abbasids until this event was put on the agenda.
