Methemoglobinemia is a disorder characterized by the presence of a higher than normal level of ferric (Fe+3) rarer man ferrous (Fe+2) hemoglobin. It may be in two forms, congenital or acquired methemoglobinemia. It is known that many agents can cause acquired methemoglobinemia. If the blood methemoglobin level reaches 55%, it can be lethal. Prompt care is needed in this situation. Here, a 4-month-old boy with acquired methemoglobinemia due to prilocaine use is presented. Methylene blue was used in the treatment of this case.
