Abstract:

In this study, some production traits were determined in selected Japanese quails (Coturnix coturnix japonica) for 15 generations. The material used in the research was obtained from 15 selected generations for three lines: high body weight line, low body weight line and a random bred control line. In the study, body weight, total egg weight, total egg number, average egg weight, daily feed intake, total feed intake and feed efficiency values were determined. In terms of the traits other than the total number of eggs, a significant difference was determined among the genotypes. According to the obtained results, body weight values were found as 350.20±4.34 g, 166.19±1.98 g and 237.10±3.26 g for high body weight line, low body weight line and the control line, respectively. The highest average egg weight (10.61±0.23 g) was determined in the high body weight line while the average lowest egg weight (7.25±0.14 g) being determined in the low body weight line. The best feed efficiency ratio (3.23±0.16) was obtained in low body weight line.
