Introduction: The ability to generate as much force as possible in punches with speed can be defined as the muscle power required in Muay Thai, where athletes need to perform punches that cause as much damage as possible to the opponent. Plyometric training is characterized by ballistic movements, which can have their benefits transferred to Muay Thai athletes who seek high performance, with jumping movements with or without extra load, developing greater muscle power capacity, among other functional adaptations. Objective: Therefore, the objective of this review is to present the effects of plyometric training on the development of strength and power in Muay Thai athletes. Materials and Methods: This study was based on a systematic review carried out between September and March 2022, using the CAPES, SciELO, PUBMED, Google Scholar, LILACS and MEDLINE databases. Results: Among the 136 found in the databases, 3 were selected to compose this review. Discussion: plyometric training has positive results in the variables of muscle power, strength and flexibility in Muay Thai athletes. Conclusion: The inclusion of plyometric training in the planning of the physical preparation of Muay Thai athletes proves to be efficient in improving muscle power of upper and lower limbs, strength and flexibility.
