Abstract:

This study is a qualitative study conducted in order to determine the views of pre-school teachers on the standard tests applied in early childhood. The research was carried out using the method of profound discussion with a total of 15 pre-school teachers who have been identified by 4 private, 11 in public schools through accessible samples. The study used a semi-configured conversation form consisting of open end questions as a data collection tool. Answers to open-end questions in the interview form are evaluated by content analysis technique. The findings related to the opinions of teachers on the standard tests applied in early childhood were thoroughly studied and identified codes were presented in the framework of four basic themes. The findings of the study showed that pre-school teachers did not use standard tests to track the development of children, they used more observation method, they did not spend enough time on developmental evaluation, and this was due to lack of knowledge. Therefore, in light of the research results, it is recommended that teachers and teachers candidates be trained in the assessment.
