The purpose of the article is to analyze Hopa and Artvin’s local election results with a political and sociological content. At the point of achieving this objective, the issue of local politics and local democracy will be discussed in detail, taking into consideration certain main characteristics of the AKP Municipality. The historically center-dependent positions of the municipalities correspond to certain main aspects that will be focused on the Islamic transformation and the relationship of the AKP municipality with the neo-liberalism. The second part of the text contains a detailed and comparative selection analysis. As it is known, both Hopa and Artvin in the center of the municipality passed from AKP to CHP. The result in both units is the same. But the dynamics of the election to the CHP to the municipality are different. The main claim of the article in this regard is that in front of the Republic Alliance block, the CHP won the election with the support of the Good Party in Artvin, and in Hopa with the support of the HDP. The results of the election contain data that support this claim. The third part of the study includes the speech with Artvin's mayor and the analysis of the answers the president asks him questions. This section also has a character that shows how much a political entity in the field has participated in the first two sections of what is said about local democracy, the AKP Municipality and the analysis of the election results. The statements made by the president in the topics such as ethnicity, women, Cerattepe events, pre-election, and the elements that are closely related to the current and future political language in Artvin center.

The aim of this article is to analyze the local elections results of Hopa and Artvin through a political sociological content. In the point of realizing this aim, primarily, the matter of local politics and local democracy will be discusses in detail by parenthesizing the prominent characteristics of AKP Municipalism. The center-dependent positions on the municipalities in an historical manner corresponds to certain considerations in which it will be dwelled on the relation of AKP Municipalism with Islamic transformation and neoliberalism. The second part of the article contains a detailed and comparative elections analysis. As it is known, the municipality both in Hopa and in Artvin center have passed from AKP (Justice and Development Party) to CHP (Republican People’s Party). The results in these two units arethe same. However, the elections dynamics that made CHP win the municipalities are different from each other. In this respect, the main argument of the article is that CHP has won against People’s (Cumhur) Alliance bloc with the support of the İyi (Good) Party in Artvin center and with the support of HDP (People’s Democratic Party) in Hopa. The election results contain data that will support this argument. The third part of the article contains the interview done with Artvin Municipality Mayor and the analysis of the answers of the Mayor to the questions asked him. This part also has a qualification that reveals to what extent a political subject in the field agrees with the words spoken about local democracy, AKP Municipalism and the election results analysis in the first two parts. The statements of the Mayor on the topics such as ethnicity, woman, Cerattepe incidents and pre-election involve elements that interest the existing and the future language of politics particularly.
