The present study was conducted to investigate the effects of eight-week exercise on capillary blood oxygen saturation, body composition, biomotor characteristics, and respiratory and circulatory system levels in U19-U21 football players exposed to passive smoking. The study was conducted with a total of 44 non-smoker football players, 22 of whom were non-smokers, who played in Şanlıurfa spor (U-21-U19) men’s teams, who were exposed to cigarette smoke or not. An eight-week exercise program that consisted of 60 minutes (15 minutes of warm-up exercises + 30 minutes of interval running, vertical jumping, two repetitive static stretching + 15-minute stretching) was applied to all athletes three days a week. The data were then evaluated by comparing them in a computer environment and the level of significance was taken as p<0.05. When the Forced Vital Capacity (FVC) values of the athletes who were exposed to cigarette smoke and those who were not exposed were compared based on time, significant differences were detected at p<0.001; when compared based on time*group, at p<0.05; in Forced Expiratory Volume: (FEV1) at p<0.001 based on time; in Tiffeuau Index (FEV1/FVC%) based on the group at p<0.05, and based on the time at p<0.001; in Vital Capacities: (VC) at p<001 based on time; in capillary blood oxygen saturation values, at p<0.05 based on the group, and at p<0.001 based on time*group; in pulse values at p<0.005 based on the group, and at p<0.001 based on time*group. In addition, significant changes were observed in systolic pressure values at p<0.05 based on time; in diastolic pressure at p<005 based on the group, and at p<0.001 based on time; in muscle mass at p<0.001 based on time, and at p≤0.001 based on time*group; in Vertical Jump, Endurance and Quickness at p<0.001 based on time; in speed at p<0.05 level based on time. It was determined that the athletes who were exposed to cigarette smoke were significantly and negatively affected in terms of capillary blood oxygen saturation, body composition, biomotor characteristics, and respiratory and circulatory systems compared to those who did not. Keywords: Body composition, exercise, oxygen saturation, smoking, training.
