Abstract:

As a result of the changes and developments in technology, today's society can access health-related information easily and quickly on the internet. This study aimed to determine various factors related to the digital literacy and cyberchondria levels of nurse students. In this descriptive, relationship-seeking and cross-sectional study, a survey form created using Google's "Google Forms" feature was sent to the students of the nursing department of the Faculty of Health Sciences of a university through class representatives. The survey includes the short form of the Cyberchondria Severity Scale (SCÖ-15), the Digital Literacy Scale, and an information form in which some sociodemographic characteristics of the students are questioned. The data was collected in the 2022-2023 academic year and a total of 346 students were reached. Data analysis was done with SPSS 25.0 statistical program. As a result of the research, it was determined that the students' digital literacy levels differed statistically depending on the type of high school they graduated from, and their cyberchondria levels differed statistically depending on their age. It was determined that the students' digital literacy levels were high, their cyberchondria levels were moderate, and there was a positive and low level relationship between digital literacy and cyberchondria levels.
