Van yöresi, tarihî süreç içerisinde birçok medeniyetin ana yurdu olduğundan kültür birikimi bakımından kozmopolitik bir yapıya sahiptir. Somut olmayan kültürel mirasın bir parçası olan masallar, kültürün meydana gelmesinde ve bu birikimin devam etmesinde önemli bir yere sahiptir. Özellikle küçük çocukların hoşlanarak okudukları ve dinledikleri, güzel vakit geçirdikleri masallar, çocuğun hayal etme ve merak dürtüsünü geliştirip onlara hayatın çeşitli zorluklarını gösteren ve işlediği temalarla toplumun temel değerlerinin yerleşmesinde kayda değer bir yere sahiptir. Bu perspektif doğrultusunda ele alınan çalışmada; Van bölgesine ait masalların değer eğitimi ve dile olan katkısı bakımından incelenmesi amaçlanmıştır. Bu araştırma, nitel araştırma desenlerinden betimsel bir analiz çerçevesinde ele alınarak veriler doküman incelemesi yoluyla elde edilmiştir. Bu çalışmada Van bölgesine ait kırk bir masal incelenmiş olup bu masallardaki değerler ise 2019 Türkçe Öğretim Programında yer alan kök değerler doğrultusunda sınıflandırılmış; ayrıca bu masallarda dilin önemli unsurlarından olan deyimler ve atasözleri de ele alınmıştır. Elde edilen verilerin analizinde betimsel analiz yaklaşımı kullanılmıştır. Araştırmanın neticesinde, incelenen Van masallarında MEB’in Türkçe Öğretim Programında belirlemiş olduğu kök değerleri taşıdığı ve bu masallarda dilin önemli unsurlarından olan atasözlerinin ve deyimlerin sıklıkla kullanıldığı görülmektedir. Somut olmayan kültürün bir parçası olan Van yöresine ait masallar, değer eğitimi ve dil öğretimi için kaynak olarak kullanılabilir.
As Van region is the motherland of many civilizations in the historical course , it has a multicultural structure in terms of cultural buildup. Being a part of the intangible cultural heritage, tales have an important place in the formation of culture and in the continuation of this accumulation. Especially the fairy tales that young children like to read and listen to and have a good time have a significant place in the establishment of the basic values of the society with the themes that develop the child's urge to imagine and wonder and show them the various difficulties of life. In this study, it is aimed to examine the fairy tales of Van region in terms of value education and their contribution to language. This research was handled within the framework of a descriptive analysis, one of the qualitative research designs, and the data were obtained through document analysis. In this study, forty one tales belonging to the Van region were examined and the values in these tales were classified in line with the root valuesin the 2019 Turkish Education Program; In addition, idioms and proverbs, which are important elements of the language, are also discussed in these tales. Descriptive analysis approach was used in the analysis of the obtained data. As a result of the research, it is seen that the Van tales examined carry important values determined by the Ministry of National Education in the Turkish Teaching Program and proverbs and idioms, which are important elements of the language, are frequently used in these tales. Tales from the Van region, which is a part of the intangible culture, can be used as a resource for value education and language teaching.
