Abstract The second half of the 20th century in Cuba marked the beginning of a period of far-reaching changes in the social and economic life of the country and its population. Starting from moderate demographic indicators, within the Latin American context in the 50s of the last century, these socioeconomic transformations that occurred from 1959 had a notable impact on the situation of the population, and in a transcendent way on Cuban women and families, and have been of importance in the process of its demographic transition. This is nothing more than ratification of the fact that between population growth and trends in demographic variables, on the one hand, and social and economic development, on the other, there is a close interrelationship. A certain degree of economic and social development affects the dynamics of the population, its reproduction, its form of participation in socioeconomic activity, etc., while the dynamics and population growth have important effects on development. From a demographic point of view, Cuba is currently at the end of its demographic transition.
