Introduction: In the last 20 years there has been an increase in the occurrence of eating disorders, among the most affected public, especially adolescents. With the advancement of technologies, and the popularization of social networks, these aesthetic influences have become even more pronounced and are constantly reinforced by the media and social network influencers. Objective: To investigate characteristics of eating disorders and eating behavior induced by the influence of social networks in adolescents in a state school. Materials and methods: The current work was carried out through the evaluation of data collected in a group of 97 adolescent students. Results: 42.3% of adolescents answered that they are connected from 3 to 5 hours and 21.6% usem the internet for more than 8 hours. 70.1% responded that they use electronic devices at mealtimes. The diets most accessed by young people were the detox diet (67%) and intermittent fasting (59.8%). Most of the young people analyzed (77.3%) are influenced by the media in their purchases, more than half (53.6%) have already regretted buying a product induced by the media. The main activity in free time was the use of internet and television (83.5%). Finally, 78.5% believe that the exclusion of carbohydrates in the diet leads to weight loss. Conclusion: There was a significant association between the number of hours that adolescents spend connected to having meals in front of screens.
