Abstract:

The aim of this study is to investigate the variables that can affect the attitudes of students who are taught in professional high schools towards the computer. For this purpose, in the 2009-2010 academic year, a survey form was applied to 86 students selected among the students of the Yerköy Anadolu Trade and Trade Professional High School along with the Computer Attitude Scale. The data was analyzed using the SPSS 15.0 package program and used t-test and one-way variance analysis depending on the variables. The study found that the general attitude of students towards the computer was positive. At the same time, the students’ attitudes towards the computer have shown a statistically significant difference according to these variables. These are: the frequency of using the computer, the desire to work on the computer in the future. The variables that don’t show a statistically significant difference are: section, gender, computer status, having someone who knows how to use the computer in the family, whether or not the internet in the home, the number of years of using the computer, the number and type of computer in the home, the number of brothers and sisters, the number of employees in the family, the area in which they are successful, the average monthly income of the family. The results on the subject have been interpreted and recommendations have been made.
