Abstract:

Objective: To retrospectively analyses the initial cases undergoing laparoscopic surgery in Batmanregional state hospital, department of urology. Material and Methods: Between January 2013 and December 2013, total of 21 patients 14 male, 7 female underwent various laparoscopic surgery by the same urologist in our department. Mean age was 47,5 ± 14,3 12-71 years, 16 of the patients with nonfunctional kidney, 3 of the patients with renal cyst and 2 of the patients with testicular exploration underwent laparoscopic surgery. All laparoscopic interventions were carried out with the transperitoneal approach. Operative time, blood loss, hospital stay, perioperative and postoperative complications were evaluated Results: All procedures were performed by the same urologist. Mean trocar insertion time was 16.6 ± 3.0 15-25 minutes and mean operative time was 173.3 ± 51.8 90-300 minutes. Open conversion was indicated in 3 cases due to renal vein injury n=1 , extreme adherent to the surrounding tissues n=1 and technical difficulties n=1 . Blood transfusion was required 1 patient. The patientswere mobilized at 1.1 ± 0.3 1-2 days. Nonsteroid anti-inflammatory drugs wereadministered as analgesics for 2.3 ± 0.6 1-4 days, on average. Mean hospital stay was 3.2 days 2-6 days . Conclusions: Laparoscopic surgey is a preferable methodof treatment with the better toleration by the patients, the shoretr hospital stay, the less postoperative pain relief and the more favourable cosmetic results.
