Abstract:

The national sovereignty means to protect the free and independent life, the nation and the homeland from other states against the external threat, in short, to maintain its existence as a fully independent nation, in other words being kind of state without any intervention. National sovereignty is based on the democratic governance which dominates the nation's life so that the nation can self-govern and choose the people to govern itself. Because, as Mustafa Kemal Atatürk puts it, "Freedom, equality and justice are the main points of national sovereignty. National sovereignty can not be without independence and freedom. Having a superior and special ability to establish and govern the state, the "Turkish Nation" has been able to create a leader from all eras which it had been existed who had been aimed to live independently. While the Ottoman State was withdrawn from the part of the world history, it gathered around a leader who took his power in the minds of reason - science and Turkishness and established a new "Turkish State". ATATÜRK has not only satisfied with establishing a new "Turkish State" and has made the necessary reforms in order to maintain state’s existence forever, and aimed that the those reforms would be guide for future generations for wisdom and science. Because of these reasons mentioned briefly here, we also considered: Mustafa Kemal Atatürk and the "Turkish Nation" that came out of it, contributed to the meaning of the character. In this article, we have studied "The Supremacy of the Turks and the Understanding of the Sovereignty of Ataturk".
