Purpose: Morbid obesity has become a global problem nowadays and different surgical methods are being applied to overcome it. In our study, we aimed to compare endo-bag and wound protection methods of tissue removal methods after laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy (LSG) for morbid obesity. Materials and Methods: We have retrospectively reviewed 120 records of 80 male and 40 female patients who underwent laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy due to morbid obesity in our clinic between January 2015 and November 2016. Demographic findings, duration of surgery, complications, wound infection rates and duration of length of stay in hospital were evaluated. Results: The mean duration of bariatric surgery was 72.1 ± 21.4 minutes (range 34-97 min). The mean duration of operation was 68.2 ± 6.4 in the endobag operation and 77.1 ± 5.8 min in the wound protection method. Mean postoperative hospital stay was 5.76 ± 1.17 days (5.2±1.3, 6.3±0.8). The difference between the wound infection rates of both groups was statistically significant. Conclusion: In our study, it was found that removal of the gastric field from the intrabdominal region by endo bag method in bariatric surgery is more effective due to leading less infection and complication rates than wound protection ring method.
