Abstract ABSTRACTAutopsy derives from the combination of “autos” and “opsis” and means “to see for oneself”. Forensic autopsy is the postmortem observation process carried out in order to detect the reason and way of death, remove speculations, provide justice. The first book of autopsy technique was written by Hamdi Suat Aknar in 1930, it was given the title of “Fethimeyt” which was the Ottoman term of autopsy then.As a result the speech of Mondino “no one should think of learning this science merely by listening to lectures or by reading. What is more important is to see with eye and touch with hands” should be remembered. Keywords: Forensic autopsy; Dr. Bernard; History of autopsy
