Abstract:

Companies need to increase their cost efficiency by raising their sales circulations and consequently their profitability, in order to avoid falling behind in increasing competition due to developing global trade. Therefore, companies are constantly required to manage according to the results, by periodic reporting, measurement, evaluation. In order to operate these processes, it is necessary to register information about the external suppliers and their customers and to carry out the analysis processes. To manage the information that is very complex, it is necessary to take advantage of the advanced information technologies. Thus, the work of the management becomes easier and they can ensure continuity by taking performance enhancing actions. The use of information technology in supply chain activities is becoming more important, especially for companies working in the food industry. In addition to the facilities it provides to the manufacturers, it also affects the consumer preferences that consumers are sensitive. Consumers now want to be aware of every process from production to consumption. With effective supply chain management and information technology support from the field to the home; manufacturing, packaging, storage, transport, all processes can be traced and controlled until they are delivered to the customer. All of these processes effectively lead to the preference of in customer food tracking and trusting products. In our work, the international company operating in the food sector; the information technology used in the supply chain activities has been studied, the benefits and difficulties that the information technology provides to the company have been addressed, finally, the necessary advice has been given to the company’s managers.
