Abstract:

Objective: Caffeine is widely used as an ergogenic in sports, but there are few studies on the effect of short exercises. The objective of the study was to determine the ergogenic effect of caffeine supplementation on the test "Yo-Yo intermittent recovery test" level one, in futsal players. Methods: participated in the study 12 male indoor soccer players. To checkthe effects of caffeine was carried out "Yo-Yo Intermittent Recovery Test" level 1. Around 15 to 20 minutes before the test, subjects ingested a capsule of caffeine (6mg/kg) or placebo being and was assigned randomly to placebo group and supplement group.Thirty minutes after the test was applied to athletes, the scale of perceived exertion (PSE) 0 until 10. For the data analysis was used to test two independent samples, Mann Whitney. Results: The average total distance traveled by the athletes and the PSEwas 1066.67 m in the placebo group and 5.60 and 5.60 and 1066.67 m in the supplement group. No significant differences were found between the placebo group and supplement group on physical performance and perceived exertion. Conclusion: There was no ergogenic effect of caffeine after supplementation in futsal players.
