Tarihî antik çağlardan günümüze kadar, insanın önemli gereksinimleri barınmak, korunmak ve bir topluma ait olmak duygusudur. İnsanoğlu avcı-toplayıcı yöntemiyle yaşadığı dönemlerden beri bir topluluğa ait olmuştur. Göçebelikten tarıma dayalı yaşama geçen insan, yaşadıkları mekânı daha güvenli olmasına çaba gösterdiler. İlk yerleşimlerin oluşumunda yabanı doğadan korunmak düşüncesiyle, insan yaşadığı basit barınakların çevresinde koruyucu sınırlar oluşturdu ve yaşadığı mekânı daha güvenli tutmaya çalışmıştır. İnsanın yaşadığı küçük barınaklar zaman içinde birbirine kenetlenip ve ilk köy yerleşimlerini oluşturdu ve devamında toplumsal düzenin gelişmesiyle ilk kentler ortaya çıktı. Sınır kavramı, korunmak, mülkiyet ve aidiyet anlamını aktarmaktadır. Mülkiyet ya da bir yere sahip olmak anlamı, kentsel mekân olmak hakkı, bireyler ve devletler tarafından sahip oldukları toprağın ölçümü ve genişliğini anlatır. İlk devlet-kentlerin kurulması, kentsel mekân ögelerin oluşumu, ticaret gelişimi ve nüfus artışı sınır kavramının belirginleşmesini sağladı. Kentlerin çevresinde ki doğal özellikler sur duvarlar, giriş kapılar ve kale gibi mimari savunma ögeleriyle birleşip tüm tarihi kentlerin sınır kavramı oluşturuldu. Çağdaş kentlerde sınır kavramı farklı boyutlarda ortaya çıkmaktadır: peyzaj sınırlar, kent sınırlar ve bina sınırları. Bu çalışma kapsamında sınır kavramın anlamı Anadolu’nun tarihî kentlerinde tarih öncesi yerleşimlerden Cumhuriyet dönemi Ankara başkenti ilanına kadar kentsel mekân ve kentsel peyzaj açısından incelenecektir. Son olarak, günümüzün kentlerinde sınır kavramının anlamı bir ekolojik sınır olarak, oluşumu ve önemi ortaya koyulacaktır ve sınır kavramını güçlendirmek amacıyla öneriler yapılacaktır.
From the historical ancient times to the present day, the important needs of man are the feeling of accommodating, preserving and belonging to a society. The human being has been a community since he lived in the hunting-collective method. The people who lived from migration to agriculture tried to make the place where they lived safer. With the idea of protecting the wild from nature in the formation of the first settlements, man created protective boundaries around the simple shelters in which he lived and tried to keep the place in which he lived safer. The small shelters in which man lived were over time broken together and formed the first village settlements, and the first cities emerged with the development of the social order. The concept of border translates the meaning of protection, property and belonging. Property or possession of a place means the right to be a urban place, the measurement and width of the land that individuals and states possess. The establishment of the first state-cities, the formation of urban spaces, the development of trade and the increase in population made the concept of border clear. The natural features around the cities are combined with architectural defence objects such as wall walls, entrance doors and castle, and the border concept of all historic cities has been created. In modern cities, the concept of boundaries appears in different dimensions: landscape boundaries, city boundaries and building boundaries. In this study, the meaning of the border concept will be studied in the historic cities of Anadolu from prehistoric settlements to the proclamation of the capital of the Republic of Ankara in terms of urban spaces and urban landscapes. Finally, in today’s cities, the meaning of the concept of the border as an ecological border, the formation and importance will be revealed and recommendations will be made to strengthen the concept of the border.
