Abstract:

Purpose: The study is done with the aim of determining the level of health literacy of students. Method: The work is done in a cutting-edge type. The data of the study was collected with the "Personal Information Form" and "Health Reading Scale". In the assessment of the data; percentage, average, Mann whitney u test, Kruskal Wallis test and ANOVA were used. Results: 211 students participated in the study and the average age is 20.83±2.23. The total scale score of participants is 110.16±12.50, the access sub-dimensional score is 22.12±2.92, the meaning sub-dimensional score is 30.97±3.93, the evaluation sub-dimensional score is 34.95±4.60 and the application sub-dimensional score is 22.11±2.95. There was no meaningful relationship between the student’s civil status, class level, where he lived, health insurance, mother and father’s educational level, mother and father’s work status, profession selected voluntarily, the presence of chronic illness and the first-appointed institution and health literature (p>0.05). For those who do not apply to the doctor if there is no health problem, the health readership score is significantly high (p<0.05). The result is that the student’s health reading score is high. The health literacy of the faculties of health sciences is higher compared to other individuals in society. But for the preservation and development of social health, the level of health literacy of all individuals should be good. In this regard, education should be planned in accordance with the level of education and culture of the community.
