Türk Sanatı tarihinde ahşap direkli düz tavanlı cami geleneğinin kökeni Karahanlı devrine kadar inmektedir. Büyük Selçuklu ve Gazneli devirlerinde devam eden bu gelenek Anadolu Selçuklu, Beylikler ve Osmanlı dönemlerinde de varlığını sürdürmüştür. Anadolu’nun birçok yöresinde ahşap direkli düz tavanlı cami ve mescitlerle karşılaşılmaktadır. Türkiye’nin hemen her bölgesinde olduğu gibi Erzurum merkezde de ahşap direkli düz tavanlı cami ve mescitler inşa edilmiştir. Bunlar daha çok 16. Yüzyıl ile 19. Yüzyıl arası dönemlere ait olan örneklerdir. Erzurum’da ki ahşap direkli düz tavanlı cami ve mescitler içerisinde restorasyonu Vakıflar Genel Müdürlüğü Erzurum Vakıflar Bölge Müdürlüğü tarafından onarım ve yenileme çalışmaları yapılan beş (5) caminin restorasyon öncesi ve sonrası durumunun karşılaştırılması bu çalışma ile yapılarak restorasyon öncesi ve restorasyon sonrası genel durumları ortaya konularak analizleri yapılmaya çalışılmıştır.
