Abstract:

Burcî Mamluks Period is a period in which some judicial institutions are systematized and developed. In this period, it is seen that the courthouses are institutions with different characteristics. The places which are used as courthouses in the Burcî Mamluks are Istablü’s-Sultânî, Saray ve Sultan Makamı, Meydân, Eyvânü’l-Kebîr, ed-Dekke, Dâru’n-Niyâbe. We state the places where the judicial and religious affairs are resolved in this period. We will focus on what these courthouses institution are, why they are created and what effects they have. We also determine the functions and importance of the courthouse buildings in Burcî Mamluks period.
